Cebu Doctors’ University sets first Run for Sight line with its mission to develop a holistic and healthy society, the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) – together with Dr. Yong Larrazabal, founder of Sight First Clinics and the Sight First Running Club – has organized a fun run dubbed as the “1st University Run… Run For Sight!”The race consists of a 5K and 10K “run for a cause” which will commence on August 20, 6 a.m. at Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City. The run is open to all students, parents, university employees, running enthusiasts and run clubs.The 10K category will have the open (men and women), executives, doctors and employees (CDU) divisions, while the 5K category will have the parent/student, student and employees (CDUH) divisions.“The fun run emphasizes the kind of health that we have always expounded in our university and hospitals, and the kind of health that we have promoted to our students, to our employees, patients, friends and families,” CDU president/chairman Dr. Potenciano Larrazabal said in a press conference on Tuesday.Cash prizes, gift packs, trophies and medals will go to the winners with the men’s open winner getting P5,000. Second and third placers will get P4,000 and P3,000 respectively.Top 3 in the women’s open will receive P4,000, P3,000 and P2,000.“This is not a competition. Running is all about finishing, not placing first, second or third. You can run for health, love, politics or you can run for us. Run for sight and help people restore their eyesight,” said Dr. Yong Larrazabal.Cebu City Councilor Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba, vice-chair of the Cebu City Sports Commission in addition to his duties as head coach of the multi-titled M. Lhuillier Jewelers basketball team, pledged P10,000 in behalf of M. Lhuillier and P5,000 in behalf of the Cebu City Government. Alcoseba also vowed to have his wards join the event.
