Larrazabal Family to Hold Marathon for Guimaras by Calvin D. Cordova (Cebu Daily News, November 17, 2006)

FOLLOWING the rousing success of the 1st University Run for Sight race, the father-and-son tandem of Dr. Potenciano Larrazabal Jr. and Dr. Yong Larrazabal III will stage another noble footrace on Nov. 19 at the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Aiming to help the affected residents of the Guimaras oil spill, the Larrazabals formed the Run For Guimaras, which was officially launched at the Yayoy’s Grill in Orchid St., Barangay Capitol Site.

“For all people who are willing to help Guimaras, we are inviting them to join this run,” said Larrazabal III, founder of the Run for Sight Foundation and Corporate Secretary of the Cebu Doc Group of Companies.

The race will have the 10K (open, executives and doctors), 6K (fun runners) and 3K (12 years old and below) categories.

Registration fee is P150.

“The oil spill took place in July and people might ask why we are doing it just now. We are doing this now because we want to inform the people that Guimaras is still suffering and they still need our help,” said Larrazabal Jr., who is the president of the CDGC.

Interested parties can register at the Cebu City Sports Center or at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall. Registration forms can also be downloaded from
