NearVision CK™ now available in Cebu

The recently and only FDA-approved procedure for patients with farsightedness, NearVision CK (Conductive Keratoplasty(sm)), is now available in Cebu at Centre for Sight – Cebu Doctors’ Hospital, Cebu City, Philippines.

Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III is the first in the nation to offer CK and only second in southeast asia which uses the controlled release of radiofrequency (RF) energy, instead of a laser, to reshape the cornea.
The procedure, which takes less than three minutes, is done in-office with only topical anesthesia (eye drops).

“CK is an exciting new procedure which further expands treatment options for farsighted patients.
Other treatments for farsightedness involved the creation of a corneal flap. This can often be difficult to achieve due to multiple factors including corneal shape and small eyelid opening.
With CK, there is no need to create a flap in the cornea and many more of our farsighted patients can now benefit from refractive surgery.

Presently, Baby Boomers comprise the largest segment of the farsighted population, and many view the need for glasses as a sign of aging.
Because CK is performed without the cutting or removal of tissue, it offers them a safe, minimally invasive alternative to laser for patients with farsightedness,
which occurs when the cornea is too flat or the eye is too short.

Centre for Sight is located at Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, Osmena Blvd., Cebu City
